PhD Student Position in Innsbruck
The Laboratory of Psychiatry at the Medical University Innsbruck offers a PhD position for 3 years. The project is funded by the Austrian Science Funds (P32558). The PhD student will work under supervision of Prof. Christian Humpel (so far 13 positive PhD thesis students) and is embedded in the PhD program "Neuroscience" at our University.
Start of the thesis: 1. October 2020 (deadline of application: until the position is filled); a pre-lab visit is highly welcome.
The candidate should have a strong background in neurobiology/ neuroscience. The applicant must have a Master degree (MSc) or a Magister (Mag.) or an equivalent (certified by the Vice-Rectorate). It is expected that the applicant has some experiences with animal experiments and cell culture. Very high motivation and strong social skills are expected. The applicant must speak English fluently (German language basics may help).
The main question in the PhD thesis is " How is the Alzheimer pathology spread over in the brain", especially focused on organotypic brain slices. The major techniques will be cell culture of organotypic brain slices, immunostainings, modern microscopy, different neurobiological and molecular biology methods.
